TOFCO TPSK - ZV Crash Test at MIRA (Motorway Industry Research Association)
In contrast to the passive products being demonstrated
today, a Nissan Micra was crashed into a 114mm diameter wide base
steel post. The wide base was 168mm diameter. This unforgiving assembly
was fitted with an energised circuit and a device provided by TOFCO,
to demonstrate that successful disconnection and/or interruption of
the supply can be achieved and should be used even on unforgiving
posts or columns.
The
TOFCO T.P.S.K. Range of Products has been specifically designed
for use with all Passively Safe Support Structures in accordance with
BSEN 12767:2007. These include High Energy, Low
Energy and No Energy, lighting columns, signposts
and traffic signal posts.
TOFCO
offer three systems tailored to meet the varied requirements of our customer
requirements, the TPSK - SAFE, TPSK - ZV
system and the TPSK - ZV / FP.
TPSK - ZV – this is the market leading ZERO
VOLTAGE disconnection system, ensuring that complete electrical
disconnection is achieved below ground in the event of a vehicle impact,
even if the supply cable is tethered.
The system has been officially CRASH TESTED at MIRA with
a ZERO VOLTAGE outcome. Electrical supply completely
disconnected within the underground chamber within time constraints of BSEN
12767:2007.
